About OutServe

About OutServe – Now Modern Military

OutServe was originally founded as a dynamic advocacy organization dedicated to supporting LGBT service members and veterans. Over time, our mission evolved, reflecting the changing landscape of military service and the needs of our community. In a significant move toward greater impact and collaboration, OutServe merged with the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), creating a unified force for change and support.

The Merger: A New Era of Advocacy

The merger between OutServe and SLDN marked a pivotal moment in our history. Both organizations shared a common goal: to advocate for the rights and well-being of LGBT individuals in the military. By joining forces, we combined our resources, expertise, and networks to enhance our effectiveness and reach. This strategic partnership allowed us to offer more comprehensive support and amplify our voice in the ongoing fight for equality.

Becoming Modern Military

In response to evolving military policies and the increasing complexity of issues faced by LGBT service members, OutServe transitioned to Modern Military. This rebranding reflects our commitment to addressing contemporary challenges and embracing a future where military service is inclusive, equitable, and supportive of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
